I taught ESOL for eighteen years. Below are three samples of the joy of creating materials relevant to learners plus a Passover teaching video.

Preparing students for job interviews was an an important part of our brief. Here, Lucy and Lawrence act out an unsatisfactory interview. Students have to identify the reasons why it is extremely unlikely that Lucy will be successful.

I preferred writing my own material to using existing resources. The following is a reading task which follows the standard mark scheme and assessment criteria:

        British History

In 2010 I wrote a companion to our ESOL tour of the British gallery of the V&A in collaboration with the V&A Education Department:

Following this, I put together eight PowerPoint presentations, covering British History from the Celts to the present day mainly to provide learners with an idea of how Britain has evolved, but also in order to support those who were applying for British Citizenship. Below are a few examples of content from the first period together with notes which can be downloaded. I would be pleased to supply the complete programme on application to: lawrence1947cohen@gmail.com

And now for something completely different!
